Streaming Help Topics
Ciegos' Haven Internet Radio broadcasts in Windows Media format using the mms protocol. If you do not have Windows Media Player installed, download it now.
Most Frequent Problems -Music will not play
Most of the time this is due to your network settings in Windows Media Player. Mainly, the use of your web browser's HTTP proxy to attempt to play streaming media. Our radio uses the streaming protocol mms://.
There is also the possibility that your Network Administrator has blocked streaming media, or that you are running some kind of personal firewall that does not allow the connections to our servers.
To change the network settings for Windows Media Player:
- Tools-Options-Network
- Under the Streaming proxy settings, Configure the HTTP Protocol and set the Proxy to None. This may be defaulted to Browser.
Constant re-buffering or stream interruptions
This is most noticeable when using a dial-up connection as streaming media will use most of your available bandwidth.
By increasing the size of the buffer in Windows Media Player, you can get a more reliable stream. The default is only 5 seconds but you may need to increase it to as much as 30 seconds to get really solid playback.
To change the buffer size in Windows Media Player:
- Tools - Options-Performance
- Under Network Buffering, specify the buffer size and start by increasing it to 10 seconds. Keep making it bigger until you acheive a stable stream.
Note: If you hear no stream for a long period of time, we might be doing maintainance on our servers or updating the playlists. Please contact us to see what the status of our servers are.
Hope this resolved the problem. If not let us know and we will attempt to assist you. Please use the contact form to contact us.
